Roland (Rollie) Reeder Hancey

Roland (Rollie) Reeder Hancey of Logan passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009.
Rollie was born March 16, 1924 in Hyde Park, Utah the son of Leander and Florence Reeder Hancey. He attended Cache County Schools and graduated from North Cache High School. He was drafted into the US Army in 1942 and served in the Far Eastern War Theater. Upon his return he attended Utah State Agricultural College and graduated in 1948 with a degree in business and finance. He was also a graduate of the American Institute of Banking.
He married Veloy Lucherini on March 11, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away July 22, 1984. He married Patricia Berntson on August 9, 1985.
He began his banking career in 1961 with the First National Bank of Logan which later became Zions Bank. He retired as a Senior Vice President in 1989. Many of his banking customers became close personal friends, friendships he maintained until his death.
He was active and involved in serving the community for many years. He was a member of the Logan Rotary Club, the Big Blue Club, Logan Golf and Country Club and the Old Main Society. He was President of the Logan Cache Chamber of Commerce, President of the Logan Cache Chapter of the American Red Cross and Chairman and board member of the Logan Regional Hospital Foundation. He was also Chairman and board member of the Sunshine Terrace Foundation, as well as the United Way of Cache Valley.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of Logan; one son and two daughters; R. Bruce (Mary) Hancey of Salt Lake City; Lisa (Brad) Geary of Kaysville; Sherri (Kelly) Treseder of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He is also survived by Patricia's children; Sheri (Tony) Nielson of Logan; Kristy (David) Theurer of Providence; Cory Berntson of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Christopher (Megan) of Jersey City, New Jersey, Lauren and Alex Treseder of Basking Ridge, New Jersey; Nicholas (Sara) Geary of Salt Lake City; Taylor Geary (Washington DC South Mission); Shannon and Chelsi Geary of Kaysville; Taci (Rory) Larson of Logan; Cole and Karli Nielson of Logan; Darin, Lauren and Garret Theurer of Providence.He is also survived by his brothers Maurice of Logan and Charles of Ogden; two sisters, Lois Ballard of Logan and LaFaye Bankhead of Wellsville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert and Owen and sisters Ellen, Anna and Marjorie.
Funeral services will held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 7, 2009 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan. Friends and family may call on Thursday evening August 6, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mortuary and also from 10:30 to 11 :30 a.m. on Friday.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Logan Regional Hospital, Dr. Bart Avery and the staff of Sunshine Terrace for their excellent care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Sunshine Terrace Foundation.
