ST. GEORGE, Utah - Ronald Justin Peck, age 73, died Oct. 7, 2007, in St. George, Utah. He was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Wallowa, Ore., to Justin Martin and Annie Elizabeth Freels Peck. He married Marlene Jones on Aug. 22, 1960, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Ron was raised in Baker, Ore., until his teen years and the family moved to Boise, Idaho. Ron was a very devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended Boise State for a year and then moved on to BYU. While there he was called on a mission to the Swiss/Austria area. He spent 2 1/2 years there. He then returned to BYU where he graduated in 1959. He accepted a teaching job at Juab High School in Nephi and that is where he met his wife. They moved to the San Francisco Bay area. He taught one year in Burlingame and then moved to San Jose where he obtained his master's degree in chemistry. Three days before his graduation he was blessed with a son, Daryl M. Peck. They accepted a job in Martinez and moved to Pleasant Hill. While there a second son, Brian R. Peck was born. A job was then taken in Hayward, Calif., with ChemCentral. The family moved to Fremont, Calif., and lived there until he retired in 1997.
Ron and Marlene accepted a mission call to Austria and served there from 1997 to 1998. Ron loved the computer and spent many hours doing genealogy for himself and others. He held many church positions and was also a temple worker in the St. George LDS Temple. He was devoted to all he did for the church he loved.
He is survived by his wife Marlene of St. George; two sons, Daryl (Lisa) Peck of San Diego, Calif., and Brian (RaeShel) Peck of Vancouver, Wash. He has one granddaughter, Morgan. His brother R. Larry (Carol) Peck of Farmington, Utah, also survives him.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
