Ronald Norman Hansen, born August 24, 1933, in Paris, Idaho to LaVere Hildt and Ruth Parker Hansen. Died July 24, 2007 at the VA hospital in Salt Lake City after a lengthy illness.
As a young boy he grew up in the mountains herding sheep with his dad until the sheep were sold and then he worked with his dad on the ranch and in the sawmill until he went in the Navy at age 17 and served there during the Korean conflict. After returning home he worked the sawmill with his brother and his dad.
In 1956 he met and married Stella Mae Johansen of Pocatello Id. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had many callings over the years and was a loyal home teacher.
He worked at herding sheep and was a machinist at the Thiokol track master plant in Logan and finally retired in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, a brother Wayne and wife Yvonne of Mountain View Wyoming, a sister Nadene and husband Mel Larsen of Logan, 3 sons and a daughter, Norman & Sandy Hansen of Nibley, James & Leslie Hansen of Logan, Tammy & Jim Johnson of North Logan, and Joseph & Wendie Hansen of Cornish.
He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Jenny and James Murdock of Clinton Ut, Jacob Hansen, Cheryl Johnson Orem Ut., Chris Johnson Philippines Bocolod Mission, Dallas Hansen Brazil Porto Allege South Mission, Reed Hansen, Megan Johnson, Ben Hansen, Rachael Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Hailey Hansen, Colton Hansen, and one great-grandchild, Parker Jessop Murdock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 daughters, Mary Ann and Nancy.
There will be a viewing at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, on Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 6 PM to 8 PM. The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM in the chapel at 309 S Main, Providence, Utah. There will also be a viewing prior to the funeral at the same address from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Bishop Darwin Kitchen will officiate at the funeral. The family is very grateful for the great care that Dad received while in the V A Hospital from both the doctors and the nursing staff.
