Farrell R. Pickett ,80, died on July 12, 2006, in Logan, Utah.
He was born September 17, 1925, in Providence, as the second child of Ross and Mae Pickett. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday with over 60 members of his family.
He attended school in Cache Valley and graduated from South Cache High School.
Farrell married Gayle Bradshaw, his high school sweetheart, in the Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1944.
Farrell was an active member of the Providence 8th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and throughout his life held positions of leadership and teaching. He and his wife, Gayle, worked as officiators in the LDS Temple.
He served his country in World War II in the United States Army. He served for one year with the 96th Field Hospital in Burma, India and China; he also served with the 172nd General Hospital in Shanghai, China.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base and was self-employed at Pickett Welding.
Farrell is survived by his by his wife, Gayle, children, Carolyn Bankhead (Steve) of Pleasant View, Tamra Dattage (Elden) of Providence, Wendee Burningham (Randy) of Centerville, Brad of Gilbert, AZ, Craig (Carol) of Perry, Blake (Julie) of Providence, and Wade (Karen) of Vancouver, WA. He had 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Maurine Jones (Venal).
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Campbell (Don) and Gwen Bell (Lincoln) and a great-grandchild, Hinckley Dattage.
The family wishes to thank those individuals who were so helpful during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Monday, July 17, 2006 in the Providence 8th Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 PM and prior to services at the church on Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.
