Rosealee Stuart, 90, passed away peacefully on October
22, 2006 at the Provo, Utah home of her youngest
sister, La Ree Howland. Rosealee was born on July 9,
1916 in Wellsville, Utah to John Hendry and Mary Janetta
McBride Stuart.
She moved with her family in 1918 to live in Drummond,
Montana, where they were active in the small Allendale
LDS Branch. After graduating from Drummond High
School, Rosealee completed the Budge Hospital nurses
training program in Logan, Utah and later took her
nurse anesthetist training at the Ravenswood Hospital
in Chicago, Illinois. During World War II she served
with the Army Nursing Corps.
Rosealee enjoyed a long and productive career as a
nurse anesthetist in hospitals in San Francisco and
Oakland, California. She loved to read and enjoyed
listening to classical music. Rosealee had season
tickets for the
San Francisco Opera for over 50 years and also had
season tickets to watch the Oakland Athletics baseball
team for many years. She enjoyed making annual trips
to the Oregon Shakespearean Festival in Ashland,
Oregon.
In 2001 she moved from Oakland, California to Provo,
Utah so that her sisters Dorothy Hall and La Ree
Howland could care for her in their homes.
Rosealee is survived by three sisters: Faye Howell
(Wade) of Hyde Park,
Utah, Dorothy Hall (R. Stanley) of Provo, Utah, and
Cynthia La Ree Howland (Gene) of Provo, Utah and by
numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death
were her parents and the following brothers and
sisters: Alvin Stuart (Marie), Ruby Bradshaw (Seth),
Phyllis Wight (Ernest),
John M. (“Jack”) Stuart, and Nettie Kidman (Ken).
Funeral services will be held at the Allen-Hall
Funeral Home, 34 E. Center St., Logan, Utah on Friday,
October 27, at 12 noon, with a viewing from 10:45 to
11:45 a.m. Internment will be in the Wellsville, Utah
Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family
