Rose Marie Huppi Thompson died Monday, September 10, 2007, at Sunshine Terrace. She was born April 2, 1937, in Logan to Ernest and Hulda Huppi. She grew up in Logan and graduated from Logan High School in 1955. In 1960 she graduated from Utah State University with a BS degree in education. She earned a master’s degree in education in 1981 from Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas.
Rose married Martin Budak in 1965. Their son, Paul, was born in 1967. This marriage ended in divorce. In 1978 she married James Thompson.
Rose worked in education for many years, as a teacher and speech therapist, in Salt Lake City, Coalville, Green River and Rock Springs, Wyoming, and San Antonio, Texas. After moving back to Logan in 1989, she worked in the library at the River Heights Elementary School.
Rose had a real interest in art and literature. She loved doing artwork and enjoyed giving her paintings away to family and friends. Some of her artwork will be on display in the corridor at Logan City Hall in October.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Michelle) Budak of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Ronald (Linda) Huppi of Winchester, Mass.; and two sisters, Karren (Ronald) Barozzi of Kaneohe, Hawaii; and Susan (Lee) Godfrey of Clarkston. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ray, in August 2007.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Allen Mortuary Chapel, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan, Utah for family and close friends.
