Ross Christensen

LOGAN - Ross Fredrickson Christensen, 85, died Sunday August 14 at home in the presence of his family.

Ross was born January 25, 1926 in Logan, Utah to Konrad and Anna Christensen. He attended Logan schools, graduating from Logan High School and later earning a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University. Ross enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a tour of duty in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his return, he went to work for the U.S. Post Office where he worked as a letter carrier until his retirement. After retiring, Ross worked for Mason Supply Co. and Cache Valley Builders and spent much time doing volunteer work. He enjoyed serving for 15 years as a “Grandpa Ross” at Wilson Elementary School and especially enjoyed volunteering for several years at the Senior Citizen’s Center.

Ross was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a counselor in two Bishoprics, teacher in various organizations, and an officiator in the Logan LDS temple. Sports were an important part of Ross’ life. Through fast pitch softball he played in state and national tournaments. He and his family also have enjoyed tennis through the years.

Ross married Jennie Mae Jensen on May 5, 1949, in the Logan LDS temple. They were the parents of three sons. Ross is survived by his wife, Jennie, brother, Grant (Renee), three sons, Randy (Rhonda) Logan; Kent, Logan; and Scott, Santa Barbara, three grandsons and six great-grandchildren. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Konrad and Anna, his sister, Ruby and brother, Dale.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 18 at noon at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan. A viewing will be held at the mortuary from 6 to 8 Wednesday night and again from 10:30 to 11:30 AM Thursday before the services. Interment will be in the Hyde Park Cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the wonderful caregivers from Access Hospice, especially nurse Diane and aids Tim, Ben, Kavik, Chaz, and Logan.
