Long time El Paso resident, Ross Macdonald passed away July 17, 2012 in Logan, Utah.
Ross was a strong presence in the US/Mexico cattle business for 40 years through his affiliation and later ownership of Ziegler Cattle Corp. Born in the Mormon Colonies in Chihuahua Mexico in 1925, he came to El Paso at age 10 later serving in the US Navy during WWII.
After being called back to active duty during the Korean Conflict, Ross married Margaret B. Wilson in 1952. She preceded him in death in 2006.
He served as a Bishop and later High Councilman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the El Paso, Texas Stake.
He is survived by daughter, Kay Macdonald of San Antonio, TX, sons Byron (Regina) of Studio City, CA, and Kenneth (Tammy) of Newton, Utah, as well as nieces, Vivian Theilke and Allison Cardon of Arlington, TX, also twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 8 older brothers and his parents. He is survived by his one and only sister Charolette (Jack) Nixon. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and kindness shown by Sunshine Terrace.
There will be a viewing held on Friday evening, July 20, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan. Grave side services will be conducted in El Paso, TX. Condolences may be sent to the family at
