MILLVILLE -
On March 12, 2013 a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Roy John Ropelato was born on January 23rd, 1932 to Albano and Caroline Ropelato. Roy was the youngest of 7 children, who grew up on their families ranch eighteen miles outside of Kemmerer, WY. He then moved to Logan, Utah in 1952 to study at Utah State University. While there he met the love of his life Iva Lou Jensen, whom he married on May 7th, 1952. Roy and Iva Lou moved to California shortly after getting married where Roy then proudly served in the Army from 1953-1955 as a clerk typist. In 1967 Roy and Iva Lou moved back from California to Millville, Utah where they started a legacy that lives on today. Starting with only two dairy cows, forty six years later has grown into two fully operating dairy farms. Roy and Iva Lou raised three wonderful children on the farm, Lane, Kim, and Susan, along with eight grandchildren.
Roy was passionate about not only his family and his farm but also took great pride in chariot racing, hunting, snowmobiling and many other activities. Many words come to mind when describing Roy; hardworking, charismatic, generous, loving and a great sense of humor. But to anyone who knew him it was obvious that his love for his family was above all the rest. Grandpa you are in everything we do, we love you and miss you dearly.
Roy is survived by his two sisters; Mae Degiorgio, and Lilian Harrower, his wife Iva Lou, their children; Lane (Debbie) of Nibley, Kim (Sharon) of Millville, and Susan of Las Vegas, eight grandchildren; Tyler (Leslie), Brandon (Nick), Trevor (Nikeeta), Rachel (Bryan), Nicholas, Tara (Flip), Bryant (Hailey), and Kimberlee, and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his four siblings; Edwin Ropelato, Milo Ropelato, Pearl Aimone, and Marie Felice.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to all the many friends and family for all of their concern and thoughtfulness during this time. Funeral services will be held at the Millville 3rd Ward chapel at 110 South Main in Millville, on Monday, March 18th at 11:00 am. A viewing will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St. in Logan from 6-8pm on Sunday, March 17th and from 9:30-10:30 am on Monday at the chapel before funeral services.
