LOGAN– Rulon James Love passed from this life to the arms of his sweetheart on April 21, 2014. He was born in Layton, UT on January 21, 1927 to George H. and Maud (James) Love. He always said he was born "lovely" and forgot to change. He graduated from Davis High School where he wrestled and played football. His nickname was "Moose" because of his large stature. He turned down a Utah State football scholarship to serve a mission in the Texas-Louisiana Mission. This is where he met the love of his life, Betty Mae Isaac, and they later married in the Salt Lake City temple on January 18, 1950. They welcomed 6 children to their eternal family and had homes in Layton, Taylorsville, Price, Blackfoot, ID and Logan.
Rulon attended a Diesel Mechanic Trade School which led to a job with Cate Equipment Company. He worked there for 33 years. Rulon had a great love for people and for the outdoors. He never met a person he didn't like, and everyone he met loved him. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and going to Hidden Springs Ranch with his family. He also had a great love for the Book of Mormon and read it daily, cover to cover, even the index. Rulon was devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He served 2 additional missions with Betty. One was a temple mission in St. George, UT and the other was in Dallas, TX. He was valiant in his church service and had many callings including Bishop in Taylorsville and member of the Branch Presidency in Scoffield. Rulon taught us how to live and be happy by his amazing example. His big smile and positive attitude helped him endure to the end well. He will be dearly missed by all who love him.
The family extends our love and special thanks to Dr. Michael Stones and to all the doctors, nurses and aides from Alpine/Encompass Home Care and Hospice who have been such angels to Rulon.
Rulon is survived by his children Dave (Marci) Love of Logan, Steve (Kathy) Love of Draper, Karen (Mike) George of Idaho Falls, Kevin (Ronda) Love of West Jordan, Lorie (Bill) Stone of Laguna Hills, CA and Allen Love of New Harmony; sister Arleen (A.J.) Lewallen of LasVegas, NV, 27 grandchildren and 32 & counting great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Glen and Jay, and sisters Ardella Lawson, Marjorie Tolman and Elnora Love.
