Rulon Hancey Cook, 82, passed away peacefully November 3, 2010 at his home in Petaluma, CA. Rulon was born June 19, 1928 in Hyde Park, Utah to Golden Cook and Manila Hancey Cook.
Rulon married Geraldine “Gerry” Mae Galley September 10, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. He graduated from Utah State University in 1954 and began his career in education teaching grades 4-6. They moved to California in 1960, continuing his educational career. He served in the San Anselmo School district as an assistant superintendent, principal, vice-principal and teacher of multiple grades. He loved teaching and his students loved him.
Rulon is survived by his cherished wife “Gerry” and his loving children Melanie (Rick) Daniels, John (Kathy) Cook, Marianne Petersen, Cindy (Ty) Pforsich, Denise (Ken) Martini, Jason Cook, Jeremy Cook and his son-in-law Bill Bigelow. Adored grandfather of 22 and dear great-grandfather of 12, he is preceded in death by his parents Golden Cook and Manila Hancey, siblings Waldo Cook and Dorothy Izatt, daughter Vickie Bigelow and son-in-law Mike Petersen.
Rulon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a 2 year mission for the Church at the age of 19 in the central United States. He served in numerous capacities in the church including teaching Sunday school and serving as a counselor in the Petaluma bishopric.
Rulon loved to read, write notes in books, fly-fish, hunt, listen to music, peruse books in bookstores, and take morning drives. He loved to sing and his greatest joy was being with his grandkids.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 3:00 PM at the Hyde Park Cemetery, 400 East Center Street in Hyde Park. Friends may call at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North in North Logan from 1:30 to 2:30 PM prior to services. Funeral Services were held in Petaluma, CA.
