Russell G. Williams – at the age of 85, left this world into the arms of our Heavenly Father on May 2nd 2013 at Logan Nursing and Rehab, due to incident of age, with his loving family around him.
He was born July 8th , 1927 in Montpelier Idaho to James and Elizabeth Black Williams. He was the sixth of seven children. He married Sarah (Sally) Harris in Preston Idaho Feb. 7th. 1948 and later sealed in Logan Temple. They have lived in Young Ward since 1956 and raised their children there. Bonnie Hoffman, Logan. R. Jim, Logan. Mary (Steve) Phillips, Hyrum. Cathy (Ted) Finchum, Logan. Debra Howard, Arizona. Roger (deceased). Brent (Michelle) Stockton, California. He has 28 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was an avid pigeon racer, raising and racing them. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and yard work. He was a home teacher for 25+ years, rarely missing an appointment. He was also a greeter at church where all the children look forward to the candy in his pocket. Russ worked for Ace Mill and Fixture for 20 years, there he learned the art of cabinet making and woodworking. He was very meticulous at his art. All the children and some grandchildren are fortunate to have some of his woodwork in their homes.
He worked for Logan Parks, being instrumental in building many of the cages used to house the animals at the Willow Park Zoo. He also worked at the Logan Rec. Center. Side by side with Sally he would work in their yard and gardens. It is truly one of the nicest looking yards in Young Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Roger (son), and 4 grandchildren. His wife, 6 children, 28 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a younger brother Gene survive him. The family would like to thank the staff at Logan Nursing and Rehab, for the love and compassion that was given to him.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the Young Ward Chapel, 2394 West 2200 South. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, and prior to the services on Tuesday at the church from 10:30 to 11:45 Am.
