Russell E. (Hank) Clow Jr., 76, of Mesa, Arizona passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2007. He was born July 18, 1930 in Phoenix, Arizona to Russell Eugene Clow Sr. and Mabel Alice Jenkins Clow.
He was raised in LaVeen, Arizona where he helped his father on the cotton farm. As a youth he worked at the Kraft Dairy in Phoenix and attended Scottsdale High School.
Hank was a cowboy at heart and rode broncos and bulls in the rodeo in his younger years.
At the age of 19, he joined the U.S. Army and spent two years stationed in Japan with the Honor Guard.
On November 21, 1953 Hank married Beverly Kirby in Hyde Park, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple. Hank was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 9, 1966. Since his baptism he has been a faithful supporter of the LDS Church missionary program. At the time of his death he was a high priest in the Grandview 2nd Ward in Mesa.
In 1990 Hank retired from the Salt River Project after 40 ½ years of employment with the company. He began his career with Salt River as a zenjero and eventually worked himself up through the ranks to superintendent over canals in Maricopa County.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Mesa; a sister, Marilyn C. Brooks of Cottonwood, Arizona and a brother Jon (Margaret) Clow of Mesa, Arizona, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters-in-law; Gordon Kirby, Smithfield; Delwyn and Sharon Howell, Hyde Park; Mike and Jalean Kirby, Hyde Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Waymon Brooks; and his parents-in-law, Earl and Evelyn Kirby.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in the Hyde Park LDS Chapel, 65 East Center. A viewing for family and friends will precede the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Hyde Park City Cemetery. Previous funeral services were held in Mesa, Arizona.
