Ruth Noyes Hall was born May 14, 1938, in West Newbury, Massachusetts to Ralph Emery and Grace Howe Noyes, the fourth of seven children. She passed away January 9, 2025, in Hyrum, Utah.
When Ruth was two years old, the family moved to Kensington, New Hampshire. Her elementary education was in a one room schoolhouse with twelve grades and one teacher.
Her family was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were baptized in the Merrimack River in Massachusetts on July 31, 1949.
In 1952, when Ruth was 14 years old, the family home burned to the ground so her parents made the decision to move the family to Utah where they could raise their children in an LDS environment.
Ruth completed her schooling in Brigham City, and graduated from Box Elder High School in May of 1956, and on August 31, 1956, she married Edward Jones Hall in the Salt Lake Temple.
They started out married life in Salt Lake, before moving to Wellsville, where they lived the rest of their lives. Ted passed away on July 18, 2012, and Ruth never stopped missing him.
Ruth worked at Wellsville Elementary for 17 years, retiring in 1989 so she would be available to tend her grandchildren. Her family was one of the most important things in her life. She was happiest when we were all together.
Ruth was very devoted to the gospel and served in numerous auxiliaries in the church. She worked in the cub scout program for many years. She taught Primary and Sunday School. She served in the Young Women's program on both a ward and stake level. She served as a counselor in Relief Society Presidencies, as well as Relief Society President three separate times.
Ruth's hobbies and talents were many. She loved cooking and baking. She was a beautiful seamstress. She loved knitting, quilting, oil painting, gardening, and canning, Ted and Ruth are the parents of two daughters, Sheralyn (Mike) Oviatt and Barbara King. They have three sons, Steven (Machelle), Darrin, and Larry (Teresa). They have sixteen grandchildren and thirty-six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ted, her grandson, Michael Lee Oviatt, her parents and two brothers, George, and Gene. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Elsie Wagstaff (Perry, Utah), Ann Jensen (Covington, Georgia) and her brothers, Richard (Hooper, Utah) and Jack (Perry, Utah)
There will be a viewing Wednesday, January 15 at the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center, Wellsville, Utah from 6:00-8:00 PM and Thursday, January 16 from 9:30-10:30 AM, with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Wellsville City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Black Smith Fork Assisted Living Center in Hyrum, Utah for the exceptional care they offered in Ruth's final months.
