Ruth Lorraine Pedersen Pape passed peacefully through the veil surrounded by her loving family on October 15, 2023 in Hyde Park, Utah. She was born December 14, 1939 in Idaho Falls Idaho to Einer Martin Pedersen and Sarah Saphronia Earl Pedersen.
Ruthie loved all aspects of life. She had a wonderful childhood filled with playing Robin Hood and Roy Rogers with her friends, countless hours with her father fishing at Henry’s Lake, spending summers in Swan Valley with her many cousins and her beloved dancing. She worked hard picking spuds and peas to earn money to buy school clothes. Her greatest joy came as a mother and homemaker. Ruthie suffered many setbacks in her early married life, but her children always came first and she did all she could to provide and protect them.
She met Richard in 1969 on a blind date. Ruthie, Alan, Michelle, Michael and Richard became an instant family. As a family they traveled to numerous locations across the United States from Alabama to Alaska with points in between. There were many adventures along the way. As the children grew and married sweethearts of their own, Ruthie had the opportunity to travel with Richard to see other parts of the world. She especially loved going to Africa and being among the wild animals and breathing the sweet air.
Ruthie was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her many callings over the years strengthened her testimony. It was her abiding faith in Jesus Christ that provided the strength for her as she faced her mortal struggles.
Her biggest wish in life was that her children would grow up and become best friends. Ruthie’s passing will leave a big hole in the family’s heart. We take solace in knowing that she is now free of pain and can dance with the Angels that she knew were always with her.
She is survived by her husband Richard, son Alan (Jodi) Pape of Tigard, Oregon, Michelle (Steve) Hill of Bentonville, Arkansas and Michael (Julie) Pape of Peoria, Arizona and her big brother Einer (Marian) Pedersen of Layton, Utah. She is the proud grandma of 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Peder (Sharon) Pedersen of Brigham City, Utah and sister Jo (Gordon) Lasley of Garland, Utah.
Funeral services will be October 23, 2023 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center Street, Logan, Utah. Visitation at the mortuary will be at 9:30 am and the funeral will begin at 10:30. Graveside services will follow at 3pm at Fielding Memorial Cemetery, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
