Ruth Pack Reeder was born in Grace Idaho on May 8, 1923, the daughter of Horace Alvin Pack and Annie Isabelle Williams Pack. She was the youngest of six children all of whom grew up and attended school in Grace.
She married George Tidwell Tarbet on May 22, 1940 in Shoshone, Idaho. Together, they had three children, Stephen, Brian and LeAnne. They raised their family on a farm in Benson, Utah. Ruth said that although she helped a little she was never a died in the wool farm worker. She loved the Tarbet clan and had so much respect for Grandma and Grandpa Tarbet. Even after Ruth and George divorced, the Tarbets treated her like family, which always meant so much to her.
She married William Follett Reeder on July 3, 1973 and they were later sealed in the Ogden Temple. They lived in Illinois, California, and then moved to Farmington where they resided until her passing. Bill and Ruth had a wonderful and loving marriage and enjoyed their combined family, as well as cherished time spent with Bill’s siblings.
Ruth was a lifelong avid reader. She seemed to shake in frustration if she couldn’t get to the library to load up on books. She enjoyed traveling and watching Fox news. She crocheted and loved to give those blankets to grand-babies. We all were so impressed with Ruth’s love of learning. She was curious and sharp-witted. She was deeply blessed that she kept her keen mind right to the end. Every single day Ruth was grateful for her good health. She watched many family members suffer the effects of Diabetes, including her Mom who died when she was 12.
Ruth loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She always wanted to know what was new with each child. She felt her grandchildren were the smartest and best looking. She would often comment that she did not have a bad looking grandchild. She had a way of making each grandchild feel like they were her favorite. They could do no wrong in her eyes. She was so proud of them and would say they were such good people.
As age took its toll the last few years she would comment almost everyday how lucky she was to have her good nurse (Bill) He took such loving care of her. Romona, her niece and Richard her nephew also spent many hours caring for her and loving her. Steve, her late son, came every day to check on her and help her until he passed away in June. She has missed him so very much.
Ruth spent the last month with Bill at Whisper Cove in Kaysville. The staff treated her with love, respect, and dignity.
She passed away November 12, 2019 in her 97th year. We will miss her terribly but will treasure our many happy memories
