Ruth Marie Roberts

Our sweet mother, Ruth Marie Pendrey Roberts, 87, peacefully passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at her home at Pioneer Valley Lodge in Logan.
Marie was born in Paris, Idaho on May 22 1928. She is the daughter of Arthur Thomas Pendrey and Mary Cerelda Sparks and adored sister of Arthur Legrand “Pete” Pendrey. At age thirteen Marie and her parents moved to Logan, Utah where she graduated from Logan High, attended Utah State University and met her husband, Reed Stewart Roberts, on a blind date. She and Reed were married in the Logan Temple on August 6, 1947.
She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served as a Primary worker, Relief Society teacher, and visiting teacher. She and Reed especially enjoyed serving a mission at the LDS Employment Center in Logan.
Marie worked as a dedicated employee for First Security Bank in Logan for 13 years. She loved learning, traveling, reading, knitting, playing Bridge, going to the operas at the Ellen Eccles Theater, relaxing at Bear Lake and watching sunsets over the Wellsvilles. She will be remembered for her example of enduring to the end, her honesty, her heartfelt kindness toward others who were struggling or grieving and her love for family.
She is survived by her children Louan (Burke) Christensen, Jim (Barb) Roberts, Linda (Jeff) Champlin and John (Sandi) Roberts; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and her niece Karen Pendrey.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Reed, her parents and her brother, LeGrand.
Funeral services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary and will be held at noon on Saturday, February 20th in the Smithfield 24th Ward Chapel, 625 E 600 South. There will be a viewing from 10:30 – 11:30 AM the same day at this location.
