Ruth Louise Sailsbery Wantling

Ruth Louise Wantling, 99, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at the Terrace Grove Assisted Living Center. She was born October 6, 1907 to Franklin E. Sailsbery and Mary Durbin Sailsbery in Patoka, IL. She graduated in 1926 from Stonington High School, was Senior Class Treasurer and taught country school for several years until her marriage.

Louise was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, Decatur, Illinois. She was a Republican election judge in Harristown Precinct #2, for over 25 years and a member and volunteer of the Salvation Army Home League and Sharon Community Club. Louise was employed by South Shores Drug Store as a postal clerk and apprentice pharmacist. She was a past matron of Stonington OES #938 and a 50 year member. She was a 50 year member of The White Shrine of Jerusalem #53, Decatur. She loved crafts and spent many hours crocheting, knitting, and tatting. She also loved reading and poems.

She married Harley Boyer and Wendell Wantling, who both preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and her son, Franklin G. Boyer.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Lorna Jones, Shoreview, MN and Scott (Marla) Boyer of Petersboro, UT; and three great grandchildren, Ashley, Holly, and Trevor Jones of Park Rapids, MN.

Services to be held in Stonington, IL at a later date.
