Ruth Moser Anderson

July 26, 1918 — November 1, 2010

Ruth Moser Anderson, 92, passed away November 1, 2010. In 1918 Ruth was born in Auburn, Wyoming to Charles and Priscilla Porter Moser on her father's birthday, July 26. She was the fourth in a family of fourteen children. She often spoke of her happy childhood, saying that though their family was poor, she never knew it. Ruth attended grade school in Auburn and graduated from Star Valley High in Afton, Wyoming. She went to the University of Wyoming and it was there she became engaged to Roice Anderson. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She went with her husband to Cornell University at Ithaca, New York where he obtained Masters and PhD degrees.
Ruth worked in an office at Cornell and took classes in business at Ithaca College to qualify her for office work. After moving to Logan, Utah she took classes at Utah State University.
Their first child, Roice Jr. was born prematurely at Ithaca, lived only a day and is buried in Ithaca. Sons Leonard and Timothy were born in Laramie, Wyoming where Roice taught at the University of Wyoming. Ruth and Roice moved to Logan, UT when Roice accepted a teaching position at USU. Their children Denna Lee and Udell were born in Cache Valley. After living near the University in Logan, they moved to their home in North Logan in 1956, where they lived for the rest of their lives.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Ruth served in all church organizations, including twice as Relief Society president. She served an 18 month mission with her husband in Salt Lake City as secretary to the mission president. Ruth and Roice served as officiators in the Logan Temple for 11 years.
Ruth enjoyed quilting, crocheting, hand-dipping chocolates, canning, cooking and always keeping the kitchen stocked with bread and cookies for family. She loved poetry and gems of thought and shared many of her favorites with her family. Ruth also contributed much time doing genealogy and family history.
Ruth's legacy is one of love, service, work and faith. She lived for a higher purpose, as described by one of her favorite verses:

This world is not my home
I've just been passing through
My treasures are up there
Somewhere beyond the blue.

She is survived by her children Leonard (Kathy) Anderson, Bremerton, WA; Tim (Nedra) Anderson, Logan, UT; Denna (Chuck) Borup, Augusta, GA; & Udell Anderson, North Logan, UT; 17 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren; and her siblings Leath Henderson, Springville, UT; Carol Hansen, Providence, UT; Alma (Kay) Moser, North Logan; Hermione(Jim) Erickson, St. George, UT; Kathy (Val) King, North Logan, UT; and a large extended family.
