Sandor Elod Zsido II, born on June 15, 1928 in Lenti, Hungary to Sandor and Juliana Zsido, passed away on December 10, 2012 at the age of 84.
Sandor left war torn Hungary in 1956 following the breakout of the Hungarian Revolution. He and his then wife Eva, escaped to Austria, emigrated to California, then several years later moved to Medical Lake, Washington where he would work for the state as a painter until his retirement in 1991.
Despite not having the opportunity to complete his post-secondary education, he was well versed in many subjects. Sandor was an avid photographer, an amateur theologian and a lover of poetry. He was a voracious reader with interests in ancient civilizations, 20th century history and politics, and animal behavior. In his later years he would return to Hungary, splitting his time between his home country and Vancouver, WA before eventually settling in Logan. His favorite activities up until his illness included feeding the deer and birds that visited his yard and chauffeuring his pre-driving aged grand-daughters and their friends around town.
Sandor is survived by his children, Sandor, Tunde (Mel) Pearson, and IIdiko (Joe) Darby and his four adoring grandchildren, Alexandria, Tanner, Aniko, and Anda. He is also survived by three sisters, IIdiko (Evi), New Jersey, and Aniko (Hugi) and Maria (Marika) of Hungary. His family would like to thank Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and his staff and Dr. Mark Firth and his staff for their care, compassion, and the friendships formed. Special thanks also to his good friends Trevor Hansen and Dr. Jeffrey Keyser.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Lauralin Ward Chapel, 325 Lauralin Drive in Logan. A reception for family and friends will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 AM. Services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be sent to the family at
