Sandra Sue Dixson Hanover

February 17, 1943 — December 25, 2019

Our beloved Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, and Friend passed away suddenly on December 25, 2019 in her home in Providence, Utah. Sandra was born to William Wallace Dixson and Florence Elsie Sturdivant on February 17, 1943 in Grayling, Michigan. The family was quite poor and Michigan winters were harsh, but they managed to endure those hardships and learn from and appreciate the many blessings around them. Sandy was the 4th child of 6. She loved and served her siblings, nieces and nephews, and grandchildren all her life. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family at the time of her death.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, her parents, her brothers Jim and Larry, and her sisters Clara, Dorothy and Delores. She is survived by her daughters Pattie and Susie, her sons Bill and Bob, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and several in-laws that she came to love dearly. She will be missed by all who know and love her. Sandy is loved by many friends in her building and many other friends she made along her journey through life. She is very special to her nieces, to whom she was like a second mom.
Sandy touched many lives. She is known for her generosity and kindness. While living in Richfield, she both volunteered at, and managed the Central Utah Food Bank, eventually expanding it into a new building and multiple locations throughout South-Central Utah, which served many people in need. She was dedicated to securing much needed funding and she worked many long hours and travelled many miles in service to her community. She always thought of others before herself and constantly worried for her children and grandchildren. She always remembered birthdays and tried to be a part of her family’s lives. Sandy loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in this world and always offered anything she had to help however she could.
Sandy’s concern for others and her friendly wit and humor are well-known to those who know and love her. We will miss her so much, just knowing she was there and that she cared, meant so much to so many. Sandy lived a full life, it was very difficult at times, and near the end, she was in nearly constant pain from several afflictions that she endured well. We are all so grateful that she isn’t in pain anymore and that she’s having a sweet reunion with her husband, mother, father, and siblings who passed on before her. She spoke often of her love for all of them and her desire to be with them again.
Sandy is an endowed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loves The Plan of Salvation and the Gospel of Jesus Christ and wants all in her family and sphere of influence to embrace our Savior and Be, and Do, much good.
Grandma Sandy was the matriarch of our family, her shoes will not be easily filled. She was an example of love and caring to all. We know she was welcomed home into the arms of our Savior. She is happy now, and we’re hoping that she gets to be our guardian angel. She loves her family always and forever, and we will always love her and look forward to our sweet reunions with her.
We warmly welcome and invite you to join us in celebrating and remembering her. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 31st from 12:00 – 12:45 p.m. with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, located at 34 East Center St. in Logan, UT.
