PROVIDENCE, UTAH: Sara Jean McCulloch Frischknecht, 81, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2009, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Sara was born March 5, 1928 in Logan, Utah, to David B. McCulloch and Eliza LaRue Crowther. She was raised in the humblest of circumstances with her sisters, LouElla and Marion. She learned to work hard, did well in school, and enjoyed many friendships. She attended Utah State Agricultural College and was an active member of the Chi Omega Sorority.
Sara married Lee Conrad Frischknecht on September 3, 1948, in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 57 years at the time of his passing in 2004. Lee's career in public broadcasting took Sara far from home, but she made lifelong friends in their stops in Michigan, New York, Washington, D.C., and Tempe, Arizona. Sara truly saw the world and enjoyed experiences she never imagined as a child. After raising her daughters, Sara joined the work force and became a valued team member at Arizona State University's Center for Environmental Studies and the MBA for Executives program until her retirement in 1993. They later moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, before returning home to the Logan area.
Sara enjoyed travel, home and garden design, painting, playing bridge, book clubs, the company of good friends and the exploits of her family. Her hallmark creativity, energy and upbeat personality remain an inspiration to all who know and love her. Throughout her life, Sara's testimony grew strong in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she served faithfully in many church callings, including an honorable mission in the Logan Temple.
She is survived by her four daughters, Diane (Craig) Etherington, Salt Lake City, Utah; Jill (Glen) Taylor, Charlotte, NC; Ellen (Barry) DePola, and Amy (Tom) Blodgett, Tempe, AZ, her 13 grandchildren, Emily, Nick, Abby, Lizzie, Jane, Jessup, Kate, Andrew, Reese, Michael, Molly, Carly and Andi; 7 greatgrandchildren; and her sister, LouElla Ryan, Logan, Utah. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion.
The family sincerely thanks Debbie Taylor, Stephanie Atkinson, and other staff of Intermountain Home Care for their tenderness and compassion in caring for Sara.
