Shane Jack Brown returned to his Heavenly home on Monday, October 28th, after an accident. The world has lost a loving, selfless, and genuine soul.
Shane was born on January 19, 1967, in Ogden to Jack and Trudy Brown. He was raised in Hyrum as the eldest of five children. A true “mama’s boy,” he cherished his childhood, creating countless memories with his siblings. Shane attended Lincoln Elementary, South Cache, Sky View High School and graduated from Mountain Crest High School. He loved the outdoors and was happiest fishing, hunting, skiing, or camping with family and friends.
In May 1985, Shane met his best friend and the love of his life, Tonya, at Hyrum Dam. As their romance blossomed, they enjoyed bowling, country dancing, playing pool, “digging,” and spending time with friends. They married on July 21, 1990, and were later sealed in the Logan Temple. Together, they welcomed a son and a daughter, and later, an unexpected “caboose” who became the final piece of their family puzzle.
Shane’s life reached new fulfillment in 2020 when he became a grandpa. He loved every moment spent with his grandson, whether playing “bucking bulls,” going on adventures, playing football, or singing. He was a devoted father and attended all his children’s sporting events, always trying to pass on his love for his teams—the Cowboys and the Maple Leafs. His family meant the world to him, and he treasured every moment with them.
Shane was a dedicated worker from a young age, starting on a ranch feeding cows and hauling hay. In high school, he took a side job milking cows for extra money. Later, he found his calling as a sheep hauler, bonding with his dad over long drives, CB conversations, and rock music. His career brought him close to many in the sheep industry, and he held deep respect and appreciation for those he worked with. Eventually, he transitioned to construction to spend more time at home with his family.
Shane brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Life was a party when he was around, and he made everyone feel like a close friend. A natural in serving others, he cherished each project and was always there to help—though he had a humorous aversion to “chorin’.” He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, and he deeply valued his church callings, whether teaching, coaching, or playing with children in nursery. Above all, his greatest joy was time spent with family.
Shane is survived by his loving wife Tonya, children JD, ShayAnn (Jay) Herzog, and TJ, and his grandson Jackson. He is also survived by his parents Jack and Trudy, sisters Shiree (Dan) Holt, Stephanie (John) Fricke, Alisha (Mark) Stemler, and brother John “T” (Emily) Brown, as well as many beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Cyril and Fay Kearl, Jack Nielson, and Evan and Carmen Brown.
Our family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Your kindness has provided comfort during this difficult time; truly, our cup runneth over.
