Sharon Zbinden Parker passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Sharon was born on August 8, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, the oldest child of three daughters born to Alma Zbinden and Lucille Hobbs. At the age of 11 they moved to her family’s homestead in Logan, Utah. There, she cultivated a profound appreciation for family, hard work, and faith—values that would shape the rest of her life.
Sharon graduated from Logan High School in 1966 before earning her B.S. degree in Business Education in 1970 from Utah State University.
Sharon married Brent Dattage Parker on July 9, 1969, in the Logan Temple. They lived in Mt Sterling, Utah where they lovingly raised six children and owned a large dairy and farm operation.
Sharon worked side-by-side with her husband Brent. She managed the financial side of their farming operation and partnered with him in real estate. Together they formed an ideal partnership, beautifully complementing each other’s strengths and passions. Their shared commitment and teamwork created a strong foundation for both their family and endeavors.
Sharon’s devotion to her family was boundless. She supported Brent and their children in every way, helping them achieve success in a wide variety of pursuits. Her selflessness and strength were a guiding light in their lives.
Sharon took great delight in organizing regular family gatherings and dinners and expressed love through cooking. Up to her last hours she happily prepared and hosted a beautiful meal for friends. All who had the privilege of coming to her home can attest to her talent.
Christmas and holiday celebrations were particularly magical, as her home became a gathering place where laughter and love thrived. Sharon had an extraordinary memory for birthdays and special moments in her family’s lives, always reaching out with heartfelt messages. She loved caring for and spending time with grandchildren and felt so blessed with her posterity.
Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life, and she lived as a true disciple, serving and loving those around her. Sharon felt a deep connection to her ancestors who sacrificed so much for their faith. She learned Family History work at age thirteen and developed wonderful gifts of researching and finding ancestors. She remembered key details of ancestors’ lives and loved to share her knowledge. Sharon served for fifteen years at the Family Search Library and the last six years as a Church Service Missionary. She also enjoyed decades and countless hours of service in the Logan Temple.
She served in many callings in the ward and stake. For Sharon it didn’t matter if she served as a primary teacher or the Stake Relief Society President, all of her callings were important. She poured hours of time preparing and teaching lessons. Her home was filled with a beautiful spirit as she prepared music for Sunday as a ward organist, a calling she held throughout her life. She also sang in church choirs for many years. She loved music.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Brent Parker, six children, Kurtis (Carla), Teresa, Joseph (Jan), Jonathan (Jeana), Carrie (Robert) Clayton, and Lori (John) Hulbert, and by her sisters Janet LaRue and Kristine Stapp. She has 30 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren
