Sheila Cecile Bunker

June 28, 1939 — May 12, 2022

Sheila Cecile Bunker, age 82, passed from this Earthly existence, May 12, 2022.

Born June 28, 1939, in Las Vegas, Nevada to parents, Charles Gerald and Cecile Marion Dotson Crowe. Sheila enjoyed a happy childhood with her beloved family in a beautiful home, and horse property known as The Crowe’s Nest on West Bonanza Road. She could most often be found riding her horse, Nancy, happily exploring the back of their property, riding along the mesquite and Las Vegas Creek, where I-95 now exists.

Sheila also highly anticipated the end of each school year so she could travel north to Granite Ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, spending her summers with Slim and Mabel Bassett and helping the ranch hands. Here is where some of her happiest memories lied, even for all her days, for she could ride to her heart’s content and be with those she held so dear. This was her second family, her second home.

Sheila graduated from the original Las Vegas High School on S. 7th St., in 1957. It was here that she made many lifelong friends that played such an important role all through the rest of her years.

Following a year at Brigham Young University she met a very handsome cowboy who strategically held the door open for her at church one Sunday. He stole her heart and earned her utter devotion, forever. Sheila married Martin Allen Bunker III in the Los Angeles Temple, August 25, 1959. Of course, this was a strategic temple selection, as Martin was a professional rodeo cowboy set to compete at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
Together they built a firm foundation of devoted love and respect for one another. Life was led by service and example.

Together they welcomed their four children, Greg Gerald, Suzanne Cecile, Cynthia and Martin Allen IV. Their children knew unconditional love and were taught of their divine purpose here on Earth. As a family they grew and enjoyed their first family home in the Twin Lakes area. With money saved they traveled their summers to favorite places like Sun Valley Idaho, Flathead Lake, Montana and Laguna Beach, California. So many memories made.

Sheila was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served lovingly and graciously in many callings and enjoyed cherished friendships as a lifelong ward member of the original Las Vegas Third Ward. Now recognized as the Rancho Ward. Her faith and testimony of the Savior’s atonement and promise of eternal family buoyed and bonded she and Martin even more so as they experienced the untimely losses of Cynthia, Allen and then Greg. Their strength and commitment of faith served as an example to so many.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Martin Allen Bunker III; daughter Suzanne Cecile (Barry) Noorda, Logan, Utah; her brother, Gary (Susan) Crowe, Sun Valley, ID. As well as dearly loved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
