Sherman Hansen

March 27, 1914 — September 19, 2007

LOGAN, UTAH: Sherman Hansen, 93, passed away in his
sleep, September 19, 2007. Born 27 March 1914 in
Spring City, Sanpete County, Utah, the eighth child of
Lucy Isabelle Blain and Peter Alvin Hansen. Married
Donna Mabel Davis, 21 June 1939, in the Salt Lake
Temple. They have three children, Vicki Mae (Gary)
Swan (deceased), Garland; Don Alvin (Kayla) Hansen,
Bountiful and Roy Sherman (Linda) Hansen, Aurora, CO.
Donna died 31 October 1978, as they were planning
their retirement years together.

On 8 December 1980 Sherman married Jessie Sue Ivie and
welcomed her four children; Janice Yvonne (Deforrest)
Smouse, Bountiful; Sherian Louise Wallace, Stansbury
Park, UT; Vernon Creig (Melanie) Bloomfield, Archer
City, TX and Garry Wallace (deceased). Their years
together were filled with many happy hours of service
in the church, travel, fishing and golf. Sue died
eighteen years later on 8 December 1998 on their 18th
wedding anniversary.

Sherman has one remaining brother Cliff (Melba)
Hansen, 30 grandchildren, and 69 great grandchildren,
five great-great grandchilren and six on the way. He
has dedicated his life in service to his family,
church, and community. His profession progressed from
a 5th grade teacher at Wilson Elementary, Principal
Wilson Elementary, Field Scout Executive, Principal
Adams Elementary, and Principal of the Logan Junior
High where he retired in the spring of 1979. He has
had a distinguished career and received many awards,
recognitions and held many honorary positions.

Sherman, you have been an example of goodness and
love. You have taught us and touched our hearts. You
have earned our trust and confidence. You cared about
our successes. You rejoiced with us in our
accomplishments. You were sensitive to our needs and
desires. You have been a true leader, husband, father
and friend. We’ll really miss you, your shoulder to
lean on, your guidance, your understanding, your good
judgment, and your sense of humor. Thank you, and may
the Lord’s choices blessing be yours.

Services will be Saturday, September 22, 12 noon,
Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan.
Family and friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a. m.
Interment will be Logan City Cemetery. Condolences
