On June 11, 2013 our beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister returned to the loving arms of our Father in Heaven at age 83, due to complications from an unexpected stroke.
Shirley was born August 4, 1929 in Smithfield Utah to George and Lois Follett Rasmussen. On May 5, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, ClaVel K. Haslam in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 63 wonderful years.
She worked at California Pack and Mountain Bell and then she became a wonderful mother as she worked diligently at home raising seven children.
Shirley was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and served faithfully in various church organization callings, including Relief Society, Young Women’s and Primary. She was also a devoted visiting teacher and loved those whom she visited.
She and her husband served an LDS mission for 18 months to Sydney Australia from 1990 -1991. She was a dedicated Temple officiator for 11 years and attended the Temple often.
Shirley’s family and friends were very blessed by her great example,kind heart, loving words and the exemplary life she lived.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving husband ClaVel, her seven children, Roxanne (Gary) Jenkins, Vickie Buttars, Debra(John) Gibbs, Brent(Ann) Haslam, Marty(Wendy) Haslam, Tami(Bruce) Pearce, Stephanie(Greg) Searle, 24 Grandchildren , 28 Great Grandchildren as well as her brother Clair Rasmussen and her sister JoAnn McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law David Buttars.
She loved and was loved by her entire family and her many friends throughout her life.

Funeral services will be held on, Saturday June 15,2013 at noon in the Providence 10th Ward building located at 355 Canyon Road in Providence, with Bishop Reed Ernstrom Conducting. Friends and family may call Friday evening June 14 from 6-8 p.m. at the ward building and also Saturday morning June 15 from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to funeral services at the Providence 10th Ward building located at 355 Canyon Road in Providence
Burial will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
