Shirley O Nish

March 13, 1929 — June 30, 2012

Shirley Obray Nish of Logan, Utah, passed away on Saturday,
June 30, 2012, at the age of 83. She was born on March 13, 1929, in
Paradise, Utah, to William G. and Lydia J. Obray. She was the ninth of
ten children.
Shirley was raised on a farm in Paradise where she cared for the
chickens, rode horses, and learned the art of canning and cooking the
foods they grew in their large garden. She was very close to her brothers
Clark and Kay Nard and they often got into mischief together.
She graduated from South Cache High School in 1947 and three
and a half weeks later married the love of her life, Cecil H. Nish. They
recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Shirley and Cecil loved to travel and would often go to Idaho,
California, and Nevada to camp and fish. She was a faithful member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings
within the Church. She also participated in a bowling league and won
many trophies showing off her bowling skills. She enjoyed spending
time with her knitting club ladies, and spent 22 years as a carrier for the
Herald Journal. She and Cecil were season ticket holders to Aggie
basketball games and they loved going to the games.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Cecil, her daughter, Lisa, her
grandson Eric (Natalie) and three great-granddaughters, and her sister,
Lydia Mae Kendrick. She was preceded in death by her sons Stephen
Cecil and Randy Clark, her parents, five brothers, and three sisters.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Terrace
Grove Assisted Living for their care and concern for Shirley, especially
Karmon Reese. We would also like to thank Dr. Michael J. Stones for
his exceptional care throughout the years.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Logan City Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street in Logan, and prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
