LOGAN, UTAH: Shirley Marie Adams passed away on February 28, 2011 at the age of 85 in Logan, Utah.
Shirley was born Nov 25, 1925 in Huntington Park, Calif. She was the sole child of Walter Quentin Adams and Eliza Marie Anderson.
She graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1943; graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles with a B.A. in June 1947. She briefly worked at Sacramento State College, The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and also Comm. Western Sea Frontier at Treasure Island (USN).
Shirley entered into the U.S. Air Force in July 1951, being one of the first newly commissioned women as second lieutenant. She served her country admirably until her retirement in July 1971.
While serving in the military, she was a major command executive officer to include assignments in Texas, California, Japan, Germany, and Virginia.
She was a recipient of the AF Commendation Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal (1950-1958).
Shirley moved to Logan, Utah in the mid-1980's with her mother, Eliza Marie Adams. She was very active in the LDS Church genealogy program for many years. She was a life member of the Air Force Aid Society, life member of UCLA Alumni Association, and a member of the National Society Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She will be interred at the Logan City Cemetery beside her beloved mother at a later date.
