SOLEDAD DEL CARMEN CARBAJAL MARTI
PROVIDENCE, UT – Soledad del Carmen Carbajal Marti returned home on Sunday, June 16, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 15, 1931 in the small town of Teotepeque, El Salvador Central America. Teotepeque means “Cerro de Dios” or “God’s Hill” and it was. She is the daughter of Tomas Alfredo Marti and Silvia Carbajal who preceded her in death. She married Mario Evenor Cardona, who also preceded her in death as well as her oldest child Silvia Anabel Cardona. She lived in San Salvador, El Salvador for many years where she raised six children on her own and inspired and led them in righteousness. One of the most important things she taught her children was the value of an education and her great level of living. She taught her children to be honest in all their dealings and to never return evil for evil. She had many challenges in her life, but she always had a positive attitude. Nothing was impossible! She taught her children and those around her that everything was possible in life.
Because she had six children to raise and make a living, she taught herself to be a seamstress. She created beautiful dresses and sewed without a pattern. People would come to her home in San Salvador, El Salvador, choose the style they wanted and she would create it. She also worked for many years at the Social Security Hospital in El Salvador and came to the United States, became a U.S. citizen and settled in beautiful Cache Valley. She loved Cache Valley “it has given me happiness, has been most generous and kind, and I love it” she would say.
Soledad had many passions, one of them was swimming; the hours she spent swimming were just heavenly and she loved cross-stitching and Telemundo, Spanish tv. She loved her apartment at Providence Place and the residents there. She always had a cheerful smile.
She is survived by her six children, R. Ivonne Harris of Wellsville, Jose Armando Cardona (Mayra), Torrence, CA; Iris A. South (Charlie), Pembroke Pines, FL; E. Yvette Tracy (Steve), River Heights; Ena Cardona Murillo, Providence; and Mario Evenor Cardona, Valencia, CA, as well by her nephew Edgardo Carbajal (Pat) of Mapleton, UT and all the wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren she leaves behind.
We would like to thank Dr. Robert Nash and his crew for their great treatment; Dr. Ben Jacobs and his crew at the Cancer Center in Logan; and Access Hospice. They were most kind to her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan, Utah. Therewill be a viewing from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm and a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at the Providence City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
