PROVIDENCE, UTAH: Sonya Brown Young, 50,On the morning of October 16th, 2008 my most darling wife and still the love of my life after 30 years of marriage passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and loved ones in a Salt Lake City hospital after an accidental overdose of medicine at her home in Providence. Only a few of her closest friends knew the degree of suffering she quietly endured due to the severity of her constantly recurring back pain.
Just 5 days after the death of her beloved Mother-in-Law Frances Young, Sonya was called home into the loving arms of her compassionate Heavenly Father to be released from all of her pain forever and be reunited with both of her earthly parents.
Sonya was born in Incapuqio, Peru on April 1st, 1958 and since then has lived in Arizona, Montana, Argentina, Oregon, Florida, Italy, Maryland, California, and finally Logan and Providence, Utah for the past 13 years.
Her greatest enjoyments were in large family gatherings and in serving others. Throughout her life she held multiple leadership and service positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as within the community such as President of the Cache Valley Medical Alliance and a hospice volunteer worker and grief counselor.
Sonya is survived by her husband Rob; her three wonderful adult children, Jennifer, John, and Sean along with their perfectly matched spouses; William Mason, Michelle (Morris), and Brittney (Blankenagel) as well as her three sunshine grandchildren; Destini, BrookeLynn, and Sydney (all Masons.)
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 12:00 pm in the Quailbluff Ward Chapel, 1400 East Mountain Road, Logan. There will be a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary and on Tuesday at the church from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
