LOGAN, UTAH: Stanley Skiby, 76, of Logan , died Wednesday, March 28, 2006 at his home.
He was born July 24, 1929 in Logan, Utah to Sofus and Elsie H. Skiby. He married Goldie Hilda Lloyd in March 21, 1952 in Elko, Nevada. They had three children Della Adkins, Shirley Skiby and Robert (Bob) Skiby
Stan went to Idaho, Montana and Wyoming to work until he was drafted to serve in the Korea. While serving in Korea he was injured then spent almost a year in hospitals when he was discharged. He came back to Logan and went to work at Logan Laundry where he met his wife. They moved to Hyrum, Utah then he started working for USU and moved back to Logan. He put in 30 years at USU before he retired in 1985. He also served in capacity of deputy game warden and then as a reserve police officer.
Stan loved to hunt and fish and go to the Mountain Man Rendezvous. The saying was that he could catch fish out of a bathtub. At the rendezvous' he was known as "Just Sitting There".
He is survived by his children Della (Larry) Adkins and Robert (Bonita) Skiby, two granddaughters Angela (John) Knight, Teresa Dorigatti and two sisters Lillie Mann and June Olsen. He was proceeded in death by his wife Goldie, one daughter Shirly, his parents, and one sister Alice Barron.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Logan City Cemetery with a military tribute by the Smithfield American Legion. There will be a viewing at the Allen-Hall Mortuary from 10:30 - 11:30 on Saturday. Condolences may be sent to the family at
