Stephen Duce Hancey passed away November 14, 2012 in Logan, Utah. Stephen was born to Maurice and Daphna Hancey on November 27, 1943 in Logan, Utah. He attended Logan schools and Utah State University. He proudly served as a member of the US Army from 1966-1968. He then worked for Moore Business Forms from 1968 until retiring in 2001. He worked as everything from a press operator to a computer programmer. Stephen enjoyed computers and technology and passed that on to his children. After retirement he enjoyed several hobbies including sailing on the Han-Sea, skiing, and attending to sheep on a ranch in Wyoming. Stephen was a member of the National Ski Patrol at Beaver Mountain for 45 years and truly loved doing it. As a member of the ski patrol he served as Section Chief, Patrol Director, Equipment Director, and as a board member. He was also awarded the Harold Seeholzer Memorial Award. All of these hobbies allowed him to do the thing he loved best which was to tinker. He was happiest when
he had a problem to solve or a task to complete. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nola, his daughter Susan, son-in-law Randy, son Ben, and daughter-in-law Charlotte. He is also survived by his father Maurice, his siblings, Wendell, Kathryn, Wade, Don, and Reed, and grandchildren Erik, Andrew, Ethan, Clara, and Meredith. He is preceded in death by his mother, Daphna, and his brother, Eugene.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 20, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center, Logan. Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday evening from 6 to 8pm and Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
