S. Chris Bair
On Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, Stephen “Chris” Bair passed away after a year-long battle with cancer (lymphoma). During his illness, Chris showed immeasurable courage and maintained a positive attitude throughout. It is impossible to express in words how much his family and friends will miss him or the love and respect we feel for him. He had a great sense of humor and loved to help his family and friends fix things.
Chris was born in Logan, Utah, on Dec. 14, 1967, to Stephen and Maxine Bair. He grew up in Richmond, Utah, and graduated from Sky View High School.
He married Melanie Andersen on Aug. 5, 1989. During their marriage, they spent many weekends camping and four-wheeling with family and friends. In addition, they liked going on Caribbean cruises and traveling to national parks and other fun places. Chris loved their two golden retrievers, Boyd and Brittany. During his illness, their sweet dispositions brought him much comfort. For a good portion of his life, he was tormented by their small dogs, Curly (may she rest in peace) and Lady.
After high school, Chris worked with his dad and brother at their garage, Bair Motor, where he was an auto mechanic. Later he worked as a painter at Logan Manufacturing. When Logan Manufacturing moved to Brigham City, Chris went to work as a semi-truck driver for Icon. At the time he was diagnosed, Chris worked for Miller Brother’s Express.
Chris is survived by his wife Melanie; parents Stephen and Maxine; brother Craig (Teresa) Bair; sister Donna (Mike) Hughes; brother Jeffery (Rose) Bair; brother Adam Bair; sister Marnie (Kerry) Christensen; and sister April (Aaron) McDaniel. He is also survived by his father-in-law Denzil (Julie) Andersen; mother-in-law Elayne (Vaughn) Ballard; brothers-in-law: Darren (Julee) Andersen and Justin (Carrie) Andersen. His grandparents preceded him in death.
