Teri Gay (Thompson) Mortensen
Teri Gay Mortensen loving wife and mother passed away December 5, 2012 peacefully in her Smithfield home surrounded by family after a long fought battle with cancer. She was born February 19, 1964 in Logan, Utah to Ortize and Shirley Thompson. Teri was the fourth of five children. She graduated from Sky View High school where she was a member of the swim team and rodeo club competing in Queening competitions, barrel racing and cutting events. She married Byron Mortensen June 2, 2007 and was sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings during her life.
Teri attended Bridgerland Applied Technology College and later attended Idaho State University where she studied Accounting and Finance. She worked for ATK (Thiokol), Pepperidge Farm, Vicker’s Western Store (Pocatello) and most recently Hientz in Pocatello before moving to Smithfield Utah.
Teri had a natural ability to love all animals and brought many home frequently to care for. She was never without one. Throughout her life she continued horsemanship and shared her love and knowledge of horses with others. She was an avid reader and lover of music. She could often be found cuddled up with a favorite book or listening to music. Others hobbies included scrapbooking, crafting, and gardening. She loved to be outdoors.
She is survived by her husband Byron Mortensen, two children Natalie (Cody) Creech Lincoln, NE., Brent (Emily) Christophersen Pocatello, ID., three step-children, Christopher Mortensen Ogden UT., Tawney (Mikeal) Christensen Yorkville, IL., Tami Mortensen Ogden, UT., Four grandchildren; Hunter and Brooklyn Creech, Khloe and Kaylin Christensen. Her parents, Ortize and Shirley Thompson North Logan, UT., four siblings; Mark (Karyn) Thompson Soda Springs, ID., Marianne (Lex) Porter Star Valley, WY., Holly (Blake) Brog Centerville, UT., and Laurel (Jeff) Killian Riverton, UT. Teri is preceded in death by her grandparents and a baby boy.
Teri inspired and touched the lives of those who knew her. She loved people. She made friends with all she came in contact with. She always enjoyed a good laugh and would often laugh to tears. Her laugh was truly infectious. She was most concerned for the well-being of her children, and was their #1 fan and supporter. She always set the example of high achievement for her children in her actions and by what she believed. Teri loved the scriptures and has a deep testimony of our Savior.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm Wednesday December 12, 2012 at Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan, UT. Funeral services will be held December 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Smithfield 9th Ward Chapel, 650 West 200 North where family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment will be in the North Logan Memorial Park & Cemetery.
