Theodore Melville Edwards, age 79, passed away August 13,2009 in Logan, Utah.
Ted was born in Ogden, Utah to Charles Emery Edwards and Eva Jackquetta Mires on March 13, 1930. Ted attended school in Ogden until 6th grade when his family moved to the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City.
Ted was in the Navel Reserves during his years of high school. He joined the Army when he graduated South High, and served in the 5th Ranger Company during the Korean Conflict until 1952. Ted was in the scouting program as a youth and has served as a scout master. He taught hunter safety and emergency preparedness.
He worked as a Deputy with the Fish and Game Department and coached little league while his sons were involved. Ted loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping as well as swimming and roller skating.
After returning from the Military, Ted married Helen Mary Smith on May 22, 1953 and together they raised eight children and had a hand in raising several grandchildren. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on August 15, 2003.
Ted is survived by his wife, his eight children, Mary Edwards Newby, Julie Ann Edwards, Sherri Gayle Edwards, Theodore Mark Edwards (Dixie), Thomas Michael Edwards (Teri), Timothy Martin Edwards (Sherry), Tony Mathew Edwards, and Nancy Edwards Cheney (Brett), twenty grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters and brother, Elizabeth, Lorraine, Jackquetta and Charles.
Funeral services will be at Paradise First Ward Chapel on Wednesday, August 19,2009 at 1:00 PM. There will be a viewing at Allen-Hall Mortuary on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM and prior to services on Wednesday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the church.
