Therese Medley died Thursday, May 19, 2016. Our little German girl went home to be greeted by her parents and her 15 brothers and sisters. Therese was born to Georg and Anna Turk on Feb 17, 1934 in Passau, Germany. She grew up in a beautiful little village in the hills of Bavaria. Many of her memories are of living in a country at war that gave Therese and her family many challenges. She loved her family because of those challenges.
Therese married in 1957. They came to the United States with her daughter Debbie in 1959. Daughters Sheila and Sherrie were born soon thereafter. Deserted by her husband, she was left to learn English on her own and support her little family. She moved to Boise, Idaho where she met the amazing Ronald Medley. They were married 49 years ago on July 18, 1967 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Later Ron and Therese added two children, Misty and Shawn, to the family.
Ron and Therese raised their family in Nampa, Idaho. Many of the stories she told or created will help her family be better individuals. She loved being a wife, mother, grandma and Oma. She loved the kitchen. No one ever went hungry. Neighbors, friends and strangers were the recipients of her love of cooking -- especially desserts. Later Ron and Therese moved to Logan, Utah. Therese loved the resemblance of Logan to Bavaria.
Therese is survived by her husband, Ronald Medley; their children: Debbie (Keith) Bingham, Sheila (Monte) Cook, Sherrie (Neil) Fullmer, Misty (Jesse) Thompson and Shawn Medley; sisters Marianne and Hilde and brother Hansi. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren that knew her as Oma. Therese was preceded in death by her parents and 15 of her 18 brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of IHC Transitional and Hospice Care Center. Additionally, they would like to thank Dr. Mark Huffman for his diligent care and Chaplin Dan Judd.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21st at 2:00pm at the Allen Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan. There will be a viewing from 1:00 to 1:40pm prior to the services. Interment will follow in the North Logan Cemetery.
