Providence, Utah: Theron M. (Dick) Campbell, 96, passed away July 19, 2005, at his home in Providence of causes incident to age.
He was born May 19, 1909, in Haden, Idaho, the tenth of twelve children born to Hyrum Alma and Caroline Garr Campbell.
His family moved back to Providence when he was in the second grade, and there he has resided the remainder of his life with a brief stay in Mizzoula, Montana.
Dick attended school in Providence and South Cache High School. Then he attended Utah State in 1927-1928 playing football for Dick Romney.
He and Lucille Mae Baer were married July 10, 1930, in the Logan Temple, and this month in 2005, they celebrated their goal--a 75th wedding anniversary.
He was a poultry farmer for many years—serving as director and president of the Intermountain Farmers. For thirty years, he was a superintendent of the Providence quarry, owned by Amalgamated Sugar Company and operated by the LeGrande Johnson Construction Company.
After his retirement Theron took woodworking classes at Utah State becoming a skilled furniture and clock craftsman.
He was a constant reader—in fact enjoying rereading “The White Indian Boy” this past month.
Theron was an active LDS church member in the Providence —serving in many ward and Temple callings throughout his life.
Theron is survived by his wife Lucille of Providence and their five children: Richard of Grace, Idaho; Kathryn (Neal Kelly) of Torrington, Wyoming; Louise (Clair Hill) of Salt Lake City; Garr of Salt Lake City; Jeneane (James King) of McLean, Virginia; daughters-in-law Joyce Pollard Campbell and Laura Lou Lamb Campbell. He is survived by 19 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers and sisters, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 23, in the 4th Ward LDS Chapel at 155 North 100 East in Providence. A viewing will be held Saturday from 10 to 11:30 prior to the services at the Providence Chapel. Internment will be in the Providence Cemetery.
