Therwin Raymond Scott

LOGAN, UTAH: Therwin Raymond Scott, 88, passed away
peacefully at home in Logan on January 28, 2008.

Therwin was born May 18, 1919 to John and Hilma Scott
at home in Millville. He was the youngest of eight
children. Therwin married Fern Jessop of Millville on
May 25, 1938 in the Logan Temple. They were childhood
sweethearts.

Therwin left high school in his junior year to help
run the family farm after the death of his parents. He
served honorably in the U.S. Army in 1945-46 in Korea.

Upon his return from military service, Therwin worked
as a mechanic at J.J. Edwards in Logan. In 1965 he
opened Scott’s Automotive on Main Street. Therwin
became known throughout Cache Valley for his ability
to repair cars and he earned a reputation for being an
honest, capable mechanic.

Therwin served as mayor of Millville in the late 1950s
before moving to Logan. He also served on the Garr
Spring Water Board.

One of Therwin’s favorite pastimes was to go on rides
with Fern through rural Cache Valley in their big red
Buick. Therwin was widely known in the county and
their car was recognized by many.

Therwin was a member of the LDS church and held
various positions, including that of Sunday School
Superintendent and Mutual President.

Therwin was preceded in death by daughter Karen
(Raymond). He is survived by wife Fern; grandsons
Scott, Michael, and Brent Raymond; and many
great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2008
at 11:00am in the Hillcrest 2nd Ward Chapel at 875
North 15th East in Logan. A viewing will be held from
9-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Millville City
Cemetery with Military Honors. Condolences may be sent
