Theta Fern Johnson

July 30, 1916 — September 16, 2005

Theta Fern Johnson, 89, was born July 30,1916 to Robert and Martha
Johnson in Logan, Utah. She died Sept.16, 2005 at her home in Logan.
Theta graduated from Logan High School and received her Bachelors of Arts from Utah State University. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in textiles and clothing from Columbia University in New York City. She taught in Downey, Idaho for one year and worked for Utah State University extension services, a professor in clothing and textiles, for many years. While at USU, she traveled extensively around the inter-mountain west and Utah, teaching about fabrics, sewing, and textiles. Theta had a sewing show that was featured on PBS, broadcast from USU. She also traveled the whole world and taught in Iran for a few years.

Theta cared for her father for many years. She was a loving, warm and caring person who had special relationships with her nieces and nephew, grand nieces and nephew and even her great-grand nephews. She was also very independent and liked for things to be her way.

Theta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Martha, and her brother Leon. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Lyon, (Ogden) her nieces Jackie Hunter, (Ogden) Nancy Lyon-Gray (Arizona) and her nephew, Jerald Lyon (Ogden). She is also survived by her grand nieces Michelle, Jen, Marie, and Rebecca and her grand nephew Tyson. She was also blessed to have greatgrand nephews, Zachary, Brendan and Jet. She leaves many friends behind as well.

Theta will be fondly remembered for her treats of sugar cubes, her beautiful home, and the wonderful dinners that she would prepare on very short notice when we always visited her unannounced.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, Sept. 19 at 1:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family by going to www.allenmortuaries.net .
