Tim Maurer passed away at home on March 5, 2018 from ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Tim was born on December 22, 1953 to Oscar Theadore and Phebe Jessop Maurer. He was a lifelong resident of Nibley growing up on the family farm with his three sisters, where he learned the value of hard work and developed many skills.
He was educated in Cache County schools, graduating from Sky View High School. After graduating he attended one year at Utah State University.
He married Betty Andrews on August 16, 1974. Together they raised their three children, Kandace, Nate and Tiffani, going on adventures and making lasting memories. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His beloved wife, Betty, passed away on April 17, 2005. He married Janet Nilson on May 20, 2006 welcoming her two sons Joshua and Dustin, adding new adventures and memories.
Those of you who had the opportunity of knowing Tim knew that he had a big and generous heart. He was always willing to help anyone in need, giving of his time and talents, and never wanting any recognition for his countless acts of kindness and service.
Tim was a plumber working for different companies, the latest being ATK. But his skills were not limited to the plumbing trade. He could literally do almost any task set before him. He could be better known as a “Jack-of-all-Trades.”
Tim learned to fish at a young age, becoming an excellent fisherman. He spent many hours fishing the rivers in Blacksmith Fork and Logan Canyons along with many lakes as it was one of his favorite things to do. He also had a passion for bugling for elk and camping, the sinks being one of his favorite spots, with the smell of the pines and good camp fire.
Tim was easy to love and had an enormous circle of friends. He had many talents, one being an excellent cook, often creating his own recipes. Unfortunately for us, he never wrote them down. He enjoyed sharing this talent by teaching his grandchildren some of his cooking skills.
We will miss his quick wit, his delicious dinners, wisdom, devotion, and his love to have fun.
Tim is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Kandace (Greg) Soper, Nate (McKenzie) Maurer, Tiffani (Brooks) Hansen; and step-sons, Joshua Larsen and Dustin (Jordan) Larsen. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, Hali, Krew, Austin, Tanisha, Landyn, Brooklin, Bo, Layni, Leah, Savannah; and sisters, Janet (Denis) Mathewson, Sue (John) Taylor, Fran (John) Payne, and several nieces and nephews.
We will celebrate Tim’s life on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan. The family will greet friends at the mortuary on Monday, March 12, from 6 to 8 pm and from 10:30 to 11:30 am on Tuesday prior to the service. Burial will be in the Millville-Nibley Cemetery. The family would like to express their special thanks for the staff of Community Nursing Services and ComForCare for their dedication and kindness in helping care for Tim.
