River Heights – Timothy J. Spencer passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his home from melanoma cancer, at the age of 69. He was born to Glen K. and Elsa A. Spencer in Logan on February 11, 1946. He grew up in Randolph until the age of 14. Moving to River Heights he attended South Cache High and graduated in 1964. After graduation he joined the US Army, serving 3 years as a drill sergeant at Fort Knox. Tim graduated from USU with a bachelor’s degree in 1975. He retired from Ipaco at the age of 62. Tim married Kristie Maughan on March 16, 1972.
Tim could be found in the garage tinkering on a project most days. He enjoyed building high performance Volkswagen engines and dune buggies. He loved to spend time at the sand dunes, sailing his Hobie cat on Bear Lake, snowmobiling, relaxing at Lake Powell, jeeping in Moab and being with his family on their many adventures. Tim was very outgoing. He enjoyed his many personal and business friendships.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Elsa, in-laws Jay and Lola Maughan, brother in-laws Val Siddoway and Phil Maughan, and a niece Stacey Maughan. He is survived by his wife, Kristie, two daughters DeNeil Petersen (Trevor Pulsipher) and Melissa Spencer (Josh Lane), two granddaughters Shyla and Taylynn Petersen, his sister, Karen Siddoway, Laketown, UT; his brother Mike (Colleen) Spencer, Lancaster, CA; brother in-laws Kevin (Brenda) Maughan, Wellsville, UT; and Jasen Maughan (Jana Saurey) Hyrum, UT; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Intermountain Homecare Hospice nurses (Anna) and aids for their care of Tim. In lieu of flowers the family asks to have a donation made in Tim’s name to your favorite charity.
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the River Heights Stake Center, 800 South 600 East. Per Tim’s request his body has been donated to the University Of Utah School Of Medicine. Condolences may be sent to the family at
