Tressa Garn English Tidwell, age 104, passed away on Thursday, december 25, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Tressa was born on October 19, 1910 in Fielding, Utah to Daniel and Araminta Monahan Garn. She graduated from Bear River High School and left home to go to Henegars Business School in Salt Lake City. From there she went to Bryce Canyon where she played in the musical group that welcomed visitors to the Lodge.
While at Bryce Canyon, she met James F. English and later married him. They spent 54 years together before his passing.
Music was her joy and love. Over the years she taught accordion and piano lessons and participated in many civic and musical groups.
She was active in The Church of Latter-day Saints and held many positions and regularly went to meetings until her passing. She was also active in The Daughters of The Utah Pioneers.
She was married to Martin S. Tidwell April 11, 1987 and he preceded her in death on October 7, 2014. This marriage brought into her life step daughter, Karen Doxey )Clarke( and many children and grandchildren which were a joy to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Stacy Garn, Uarda Larkin, Marie Garn and Preston Garn. Surviving is one sister, Luella Garn Tincher and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the Ensign Stake Center, 2nd Avenue and B Street in Salt Lake. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
