Tressa Rose Kofoed Kirby Petersen
passed away November 26, 2005 in Logan due to complications related to Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. She was 83 years old. She was born in Weston, Idaho on April 20, 1922 to
George Harrison Kofoed and Rozella Williams Kofoed. She attended school in Weston.
On July 27, 1939, she married Eldon Kirby in the Logan LDS Temple. During their marriage they lived in the Preston area, in Dillon, Montana for twelve years, and then moved to Providence, Utah, where Eldon passed away on January 4, 1963 after 24 years of marriage. They had 2 sons and 2 daughters.
She married Leland W. Petersen on August 22, 1964 in Hyrum, Utah. During their marriage of almost 40 years, they traveled to many places and enjoyed making lasting friendships with the people they traveled with. They enjoyed almost constant companionship in their later years together until Lee passed away on May 6, 2003. It has been difficult for Tressa to live without her partner
Tressa will be missed by her children: Colleen (Rex) Rasmussen, Cache Junction; Shawna (David) Boudrero, Hyde Park; Jim (Jeanne) Kirby, Logan; Wallace Petersen, Hyrum; David (Sheryl) Petersen, Ogden; Mary (Richard) Cahoon, Bountiful; Eloise (George) Miller, Bountiful; Eleanor (Tom) Pocock, Oakton, VA; Rodney (Marilyn-deceased) Petersen, Mapleton, UT; Kathryn (Kent) Colton, Mclean, VA; Jerry (Leigh Ann) Petersen, Hyrum; Marty (Robert) Bennett, Strasburg, PA; and also 53 grandchildren and 74 great grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life came from cooking and caring for her family. She loved to bring the family together for holidays, and always made everyone feel welcome in her home.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Eldon, Jr., her parents, her sisters, Sybel and Rilla, her brothers, Howard and Reese, and her husbands, Eldon and Lee.
As a family, we would like to express our gratitude for the compassionate medical care and kind treatment that she has received from so many, including the staff at Terrace Grove, where she spent her last few weeks.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Wednesday, November 30th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, located at 34 East Center Street in Logan. There will also be a brief viewing before the funeral on Thursday, December 1st, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, prior to the funeral service which will begin at 11:30 am in the LDS Chapel at 245 North Apple Drive (approx. 700 East) in Hyrum, Utah. Internment will take place at the Preston Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
