Val Don Campbell passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, December 21, 2015. He was 59 at the time of his passing.
Val had a passion for life, and demonstrated exceptional courage and strength as he struggled to live with, and overcome, the challenges of Cystic Fibrosis. He lived to a near record-age for a person with this debilitating disease, including a double-lung transplant at University of Utah in spring of 2009. He was always gracious toward the many different medical professionals who poked, prodded, and worked with him to extend and improve his life.
Val was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent a lot of time in the hospital, and loved giving Priesthood Blessings to anyone in need during his stay. He was serving as the High Priest Group Leader in the Crockett Ward at the time of his passing.
Val graduated from Logan High School and Utah State University with a degree in Chemistry. Following graduation, Val worked at Energy Fuels in Blanding, Utah, before being hired at Thiokol/ATK where he worked for many years.
Val lived each day to the fullest and enjoyed many hobbies such as painting, making jewelry, spending time with his family, laughing until he couldn’t breathe, riding dirt bikes with his brothers, and hunting as long as his health would allow. Val and Jeanette both enjoyed serving the community, and their church, as HAM radio operators. Old and new friendships have been formed through the BARC (Bridgerland Amateur Radio Club) by giving numerous community service hours for races and rides such as LOTOJA, Bear 100, the Little Red, Top of Utah, and many more.
Val is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette, their daughter, Stacy (Matt) Stewart, along with three wonderful grandchildren: Lili, Walter, Damon; Val's parents, Raleigh Clarke and Joyce Campbell; four brothers and one sister: K. Chad (Lisa) Campbell, David (DoriAn) Campbell, Mark (Sharlynne) Campbell, and Scott (Rosalie) Campbell, and Karen C. (Todd) Turnblom; and a fleet of loving nieces and nephews.
