Valarie Clark Miller, age 62, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017, at IMC Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, from complications of multiple sclerosis. She was born Oct. 15, 1954, in Clarkston, Utah, to Denzel and Shirleen (Thompson) Clark.
Valarie attended Cache County schools, graduating from Sky View High School in 1972. While at Sky View, she was active in student government, a member of the Vistauns, debate, school newspaper, a cappella choir and track and field. In 1972, she was crowned Cache Valley Dairy Princess by the Cache Valley Dairy Association. Later, in statewide competition, she was selected as an attendant to the state dairy princess. Valarie was offered track scholarships to various schools but chose to attend Utah State. Following high school, she attended Utah State University, where she majored in elementary education. She was also a member of the Aggie track team, specializing as a sprinter. Valarie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976. She enjoyed camping, hunting, skiing, cooking, music and riding a horse named Leo. Leo was a special kind of companion; he'd follow her everywhere.
Valarie married John R. Miller of Hyrum on Dec. 12, 1975. They were blessed with four beautiful children, Anne, Ryan, Erin and Brooke. Valarie and John were later divorced. Valarie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in a variety of callings wherever she lived.
Valarie will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Denzel and Shirleen, her children Anne (Joe), Ryan (Leah) and Brooke (Thad), and her sister Debra (Dan) and brother Zane (Annette). She will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren Ayden, Jack, Erin and Max. She was predeceased by her daughter, Erin Miller.
She will be greatly missed and remembered for her strength, perseverance, kind, sweet, loving nature and devotion to her children and grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan, UT 84321, on Thursday, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary on Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. with a viewing prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral at the Hyrum City Cemetery, at 609 Center Ave, Hyrum, UT 84319.
