Val Dean Holmes

Val Dean Holmes passed away May 31, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family. He fought valiantly and faced his challenges with a positive attitude. His perseverance and faith is an inspiration to us all.
Val was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on November 2, 1940 to Vernon J. and Jane Gunnell Holmes. He married Sondra Lee Mendenhall of Idaho Falls on February 15, 1963 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Into their home came five beautiful children; Dewayne, Kathy, David, Char, and Chris.
Val had an enduring love for each member of his family and will be deeply missed by them. His life was dedicated to serving both family and friends. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He had a strong testimony of his savior. He served in the New Zealand South Mission and had numerous church callings. He loved people and was always willing to serve them in any way possible. He was always surrounded by his children and grandchildren, he inspired them in life and in faith.
Val is survived by his wife Sondra, children; Dewayne, Kathy, Dave (Carrie), Char (Mike), and Chris, his 13 grandchildren and his 3 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents Vernon and Jane Holmes and two siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Smithfield South Stake Center, 451 South 250 East. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan on Friday evening from 6 to 8pm and at the Stake Center on Saturday morning from 12:00 till time of service.
