Lewiston, Utah: Val Edward Rigby passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the age of 88 in his home in Lewiston, Utah. He was born January 27, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of Lewis Rigby and Florence Phoebe Follett Rigby. Val married his sweetheart Lillian Low on July 30, 1940, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Lewiston, Utah and lived there most of their adult lives.
Val was the bishop of the Lewiston 2nd Ward for over 8 years among many other church callings. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Northern States Mission. He left the valley in 1944 to serve with the U.S. Army in Europe. He led a busy and active life with most of his work centered around farming.
His parents preceded him in death.
Val was the loving father of four children: Ed (Kathy) Rigby of Wellsville, Utah; Ellen (Paul) Garvin of Mexico City, Mexico; Janet (Doug) Price of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Os (Cindy) Rigby of Eden, Idaho. He is the grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
His family was his first priority and he loved spending time with them. He enjoyed an afternoon waiting for the trout to bite or tending to his garden. Val's kindnesses and concerns touched many lives. He will be missed.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2008 in the Lewiston 2nd Ward Chapel, 10 South 1600 West with Bishop Kent Buttars conducting. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 East 1800 North in North Logan, and prior to services at the church on Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Burial will be in the Lewiston City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion. Condolences may be sent to the family at
