Van Nelson Wheeler, born March 15, 1927, passed away peacefully at his Home in Logan Utah, on December 18, 2016, at the age of 89.
He was the youngest of 6 children born to Ray and Benta Wheeler, in Preston Idaho. Van’s parents later moved the family Logan, where Van grew up. He started working in Superior Cleaners in his early years and it was there, he met his eternal companion, Mary Lou Tingey, who also was employed at the Cleaners. They were married in the Logan temple on June 10, 1949. Van and Mary Lou later bought Superior Cleaners, and spent a life together serving the public and raising a family. He was an active member of the LDS church and held many callings over the years.
Mary Lou passed away on February 23, 1993 after a courageous battle with cancer. A few years later, Van married Lorene Johnson on November 29, 1995. Van and Lorene retired and spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona until a few years ago when his health started to fail.
Van is survived by his wife, Lorene Johnson Wheeler, children, Shaun (Larry) Hogge of Providence; (currently serving a mission in Guatemala), Jolynn (Jon) Anderson of Paradise; Kathryn Schenavar of Hyrum; and Steven Wheeler of Logan; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, daughter Connie, son in law Scott Schenavar, his parents and his siblings, Raymond, Don, Lonzo, Zela and Virginia. He is also survived by Lorene's five children and their families. Funeral services will be held at noon on January 3, 2017 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Chapel, 34 East Center Street in Logan. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30 AM prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at
