Vellys Bradley Jensen, 85, passed away on October 9, 2009 in Logan, Utah of causes related to her age.
Vellys was born June 8, 1924 in Moroni, Utah, the youngest daughter of Burton H. Bradley and Genevieve Bruno Bradley.
She was raised in Logan, Utah, where she met her husband, Keith Jensen. They were married and sealed on December 4, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple.
During the early years of her marriage, Vellys worked for Standard Optical, sold cosmetics, and later worked at the U.S.U. Bookstore, where she developed and enjoyed many wonderful friendships.
Although she initially was hesitant to be a teacher, she served as a teacher in the Primary and Young Women programs, and ultimately taught by her shining example of pure love and deep compassion for those who are burdened with unfortunate circumstances in their lives.
Vellys loved to travel and visit various places of interest, fun and enjoyment. She and Keith always looked forward to taking summer vacations with their children, and in later years with their grandchildren. Many treasured memories arose from those occasions and priceless bonds of love were strengthened by their shared experiences.
With the passage of time, Vellys encountered various challenges to her health, but despite her pain and discomfort, she always seemed to smile. Her health continued to deteriorate as she grew older, and it is primarily due to her husband's tireless devotion and tender loving care that she lived beyond her eighty-fifth year of age.
Vellys was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vazale Denning. She is survived by an older sister, Francis Wray (Floyd) Waite, St. George; her husband, Keith Jensen, Logan; a sister-in-law, Jean (Don) Wall, Sheridan, WY; and their three sons: Mark (Pat) Jensen, Providence; Paul Jensen, Logan; and Robert (Barbara) Jensen, Logan. Also surviving are Mark and Pat's children: Kimberly, Teri, Kelli and Shari; and Robert and Barbara's children: Brianne, Rebecca, Mary, Ben, Michelle, Daniel, and Bradley. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive Vellys.
Keith and his family are grateful for the services of Hospice, and particularly for nurse Julie Garner and others who assisted with the tender care of Vellys.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in the Allen Mortuary of North Logan Chapel, 420 East 1800 North in North Logan.
